Paul Lane
PC MHA for Mount Pearl South District
Paul Lane was elected in the October 11, 2011 general election to represent the people of the District of Mount Pearl South in the House of Assembly.
Paul is a long time community activist and volunteer in the City of Mount Pearl, engaging in such activities as:
- Chairperson of the Mount Pearl City Days Celebrations
- Member of the Mount Pearl Frosty Festival Board of Directors
- Chairperson of the St. Peters Elementary School Council
- Chairperson of the Kenmount Park Neighborhood Association
- Founder and Chairperson of the Masonic Park Garden of Friendship Foundation
- Member of the Mount Pearl Lions Club
- Chairperson of the Mount Pearl Santa Clause Parade Committee
- Volunteer with the Mount Pearl Sport Alliance
- Member of the Mount Pearl Library Board of Directors
These community efforts have not gone unnoticed as he has been twice nominated and once selected as Mount Pearl’s Citizen of the Year. He is also the recipient of a Volunteer Recognition Award from the Community Services Council for his volunteer work in the City of Mount Pearl.
Paul is a long standing member of the Progressive Conservative Party and has worked on numerous Provincial and Federal campaigns. He has served in various leadership capacities at the District Association level and co-chaired the 2007 Mount Pearl North Provincial Election campaign.
He has been an elected member of the Mount Pearl City Council for the past eight years, serving in the capacity of both Councillor and Deputy Mayor. He has served on all standing committees of Council, as Mount Pearl’s representative on the Regional Fire Committee as well as on the North East Avalon Joint Councils. He has also served as Avalon Director with Municipalities Newfoundland & Labrador.
Paul is a graduate of the Occupational Health & Safety Program at the College of the North Atlantic and has studied Business Administration at Memorial University. He has worked as a safety practitioner in both the public and private sector for the past 14 years and is currently employed as the Corporate Occupational Health & Safety Coordinator / Disability Claims Manager for a local group of companies.
