PC MHA for Lake Melville District
Keith Russell was elected to represent the people of the District of Lake Melville in the October 11, 2011 general election.
Keith is a Member of the Board of Directors of the Labrador Friendship Centre, a community volunteer and a Lake Melville Minor Hockey Coach.
Keith graduated from Our Lady Queen of Peace School in Happy Valley-Goose Bay and went on to receive a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in 1998 from St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.
Keith was born in Happy Valley, Labrador on May 24, 1975, the middle of three sons to Kay and Frank Russell. He is married to Brenda and have two wonderful children, Alicia and Keith.
His mother’s father was Norman Edmunds, born to Alice Voisey. He was adopted and raised by her uncle David Edmunds of Sango Bay. His grandmother is Eliza Edmunds (nee Broomfield ) of Big Bay, born to Walter and Catherine Broomfield (nee Andersen of Makkovik). His grandparents were among the founding families of Happy Valley-Goose Bay, who came down from the north by motorboat. On his father’s side of the family, his grandfather was Frank Russell originally from Riverhead-Harbour Grace. His grandmother is Maud Russell from Long Harbour, NL. They came to Happy Valley-Goose Bay in 1953.
Keith enjoys hockey, hunting and fishing, as well as teaching and playing guitar with friends and family.
