PC MHA for Kilbride District
As the former Ward 5 St. John’s City Councillor from 1992 to 2005 John Dinn served the residents of Kilbride, Goulds and former Metroboard areas very well. Prior to this in the late 1970′s and 1980′s, John was the Deputy Mayor of the Goulds. He graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland with a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education degree and taught for 29 years at St. Kevin’s School, Goulds.
John started the Goulds Minor Hockey program with the late Howie Guest and he was instrumental in getting the Goulds Arena approved. He has been involved in many recreational organizations both as a committee member and as a player. He has personally supervised the construction of several sports facilities in Kilbride and Goulds.
During the late 1980′s and early 1990′s, John operated a landscaping business which employed as many as 10 people.
On February 9, 2007, John was elected as the Member of the House of Assembly for the District of Kilbride.
He was re-elected in the October 11, 2011 general election.
He is married to Patricia Whelan of Kilbride and they have 4 kids – Kenny, Susan, Julie and Danny. He is also the proud grandfather of 3 wonderful grandchildren – Kayla Dinn, Laura Dinn and Ethan Chafe.
